Robotic cell
A robotic cell is an enclosed workstation where one or more industrial robots carry out a defined task automatically.
Also known as robot cell, robotic workcell, industrial robot cell, construction robotics, robotic automation
The cell groups the robots, their tools, safety fencing and controls around a single process, such as framing, sheathing, gluing or insulating. It can run on its own or be placed in a production line, taking elements in and passing them on.
Robots suit the heavy, repetitive and ergonomically poor tasks in prefab production. The challenge in construction is variety: nearly every element is different, so the cell must be driven directly by the design data for each piece.
