A walk through our history

Firsts, since 1943

Over eighty years of automating the prefab house industry, one machine at a time.

  1. An early Randek Maskin AB control panel, Falkenberg
    1943

    Operations start in Sweden

As factory production of wooden houses takes off, Randek is the first to specialise in it.

  2. A Butterfly turn table tilting a wall element
    1963

    The Butterfly turn table

Our first invention, still the basic machine for wall, floor and roof elements.

  3. An early 720-series crosscut saw
    1965

    The 720-series crosscut saw

Straight, oblique and tilted cuts. Still used in more than 25 countries.

  4. An automatic nailing bridge over a wall table
    1968Randek invention

    The automatic nailing bridge

As wall elements grow larger, Randek invents the fully automatic nailing bridge.

  5. An early Randek framing station
    1972

    The framing station

Speeds up framing on demand, and becomes the industry standard for wall lines.

  6. A Randek wall line at Myresjöhus in the 1980s
    1980s

    Wall lines in production

A Randek wall line at Myresjöhus, Sweden, in the 1980s.

  7. An original Apple Macintosh, 1984A CAD-driven Randek machine head
    1985First in the world

    Connected to CAD

The year after the Macintosh, Randek drives machines directly from the CAD/CAM drawing.

  8. An AutoWall line in production
    1992

    The AutoWall System

A wall production system developed for the US market, and a world record.

  9. An AutoFloor System building floor elements
    1998

    The AutoFloor System

After AutoWall’s success in the US, a system for floor elements.

  10. Automatic stud feeding from timber packages
    2008

    Automatic stud feeding

Studs picked automatically from the right timber package and fed to the line.

  11. An AutoEye truss line
    2012First in the world

    AutoEye

The first system that picks, positions and presses nail plates automatically.

  12. The first ZeroLabor robotic cell: robots building a wall element
    2017First in the world

    ZeroLabor Robotic

The first robotic system for varying sizes of open and closed walls.

  13. A robot feeding studs into a framing station
    2018

    Robots in the framing station

Robots pick studs and noggins, handling double, L and U studs automatically.

  14. A ZeroLabor robot at work
    2021

    ZeroLabor 3.0

Faster, configurable with 2–5 robots, and available for light gauge steel.

  15. Robotic insulation cell
    2022First in the world

    Robotic blow-in insulation

The first fully robotic blow-in insulation cell.

  16. Robotic sub-assembly cell
    2025

    ZeroLabor sub-assembly

Launched at LIGNA: robots producing complex sub-elements for the first time.

Who we are

One partner, from the first drawing to start-up

Sweden has a long tradition of building in wood. Randek grew out of it, and is still a family-owned business, building its machines in its own plants and staying with the customer for the life of the line.

  • Machines built in our own plants in Falkenberg and Arvika, Sweden
  • Every line installed, commissioned and tested by our own staff, wherever it is
  • One partner for the complete solution, from finance to start-up and support

A Randek robotic cell - innovation developed together with customers
Innovation

Developed with the people who run the lines

Innovation at Randek starts with a customer’s problem. We work closely with the factories that run our lines, and several of our firsts began in a customer’s pre-study.

  • AutoEye: nail plates picked, positioned and pressed with machine vision
  • ZeroLabor: robots for varying building elements
A prefabricated timber frame - a renewable, low-carbon building material
Sustainability

Machines built to last

Durable machines that are easy to maintain and repair, solar power covering most of our Falkenberg plant’s needs, and customers who build in wood, a renewable, carbon-absorbing material.
