CUT SAWS

JS400C Notching Saw

Clean notches and end cuts, every time.

The JS400C is a dedicated notching saw for cutting the ends of timber pieces safely and precisely: the notches and recesses that timber framing needs, such as seating a lintel into a wall stud. If you build with wood, it takes the fiddly, error-prone end work off your main saw and does it accurately and repeatably. Compact and self-contained, it fits neatly alongside a cut saw and framing station in any timber workshop.

A dedicated notching saw: two blades, one horizontal and one vertical, cut the notches and recesses timber framing needs.

  • Purpose-built for notching. Two saw blades, one horizontal and one vertical, work together to cut precise notches and recesses that a standard crosscut saw cannot make cleanly.
  • Wide notch range in one machine. Notch depth from 30 to 115 mm and notch length from 10 to 370 mm covers the joints found across timber framing.
  • Controlled and safe. The workpiece is clamped and the saw sled travels back and forth through a guarded cycle, keeping the operator clear of the blades.
  • Low noise. 76 dB(A) at the operator station keeps the workshop environment manageable.
  • Built-in dust management. Two extraction points connect straight to your aspiration system to keep airborne dust down.
  • Small footprint. A single-station machine you can add to an existing line without rethinking the layout.
NOTCHES TIMBER

Square notches, in one cycle

The JS400C cuts the notches and recesses timber framing needs, such as the seat for a lintel in a wall stud. The horizontal blade cuts the floor of the notch and the vertical blade cuts the shoulder, so the notch comes out square every time.

How it works

The operator places and clamps the timber; the saw sled carries the blades through the cut and returns. The horizontal and vertical blades combine to remove material for the notch, then the piece is released. The saw is designed to keep the outward cut as small as possible for a clean result.

EXAMPLE LAYOUTS

A compact station next to your saw

The JS400C is a single, self-contained station. Put it alongside the cut saw and the framing tables, with a roller stand to support long timber.
