Nailing bridge
A nailing bridge is a gantry that travels over a wall panel and drives the nails fixing sheathing boards to the frame automatically.
Also known as nailing gantry, nail bridge, bridge nailer
Once a wall frame has its sheathing boards laid on, the boards have to be nailed to every stud and plate behind them: a repetitive, high-count task. A nailing bridge is a gantry that spans the panel and moves along it, driving the nails in the right pattern automatically.
Doing this by machine gives an even, correctly spaced nailing pattern every time and takes a slow, tiring job off the operators, which is why it was one of the earliest wall-line stations to be automated.
