Roof trusses

Studio truss

A studio truss gives a ceiling that is vaulted on one side and flat on the other, creating a partly open, loft-like room.

Also known as studio truss, studio vault truss, split vault truss, part vaulted truss

One half of the bottom chord follows a slope up towards the ridge while the other half stays horizontal, or the truss steps to combine two ceiling heights. It suits rooms that should feel high on one side, such as studios, living rooms and lofts.

Manufacturers use the name differently, and SBCA lists it as studio vault. The exact profile is set in each truss design.
