Element gluing
Element gluing is applying adhesive between the frame and the boards of a wall, floor or roof element, so they act together as a stiffer unit.
Also known as glue application, structural gluing, glued sheathing, adhesive application, glue robot
Glue between joists and floor deck, or between studs and sheathing, stops boards from moving and squeaking and can make the element significantly stiffer than mechanical fixings alone. In some designs the glued boards are part of the structural calculation.
The glue has to go on in the right amount, in the right pattern and within its open time before the boards are laid. Done by hand it is messy, variable and exposes workers to fumes.
