Lifting points
Lifting points are the prepared places on a prefabricated element where it is attached to the crane, so it can be lifted safely without damage.
Also known as lifting lugs, lifting straps, lifting anchors, crane lifting points, panel lifting
Large wall, floor and roof elements are lifted into place by crane. Lifting straps, lugs or bolts are fixed at points chosen by the designer, usually through the top plate or into the frame, so the element hangs level and the loads go into members that can carry them.
Planning lift points is part of designing the element: the weight, centre of gravity and the order of lifting on site all affect where they go.
