Girder truss
A girder truss is a strengthened, often multi-ply truss that carries the load of other trusses or of a point load.
Also known as girder truss, truss girder, multi-ply truss, carrying truss, double truss
Where trusses cannot bear on a wall, for example around a large opening, at a hip or where two roofs meet, they are hung from a girder truss instead. The girder is usually two or three trusses fixed together side by side, with heavier members and plates.
The supported trusses are connected with truss hangers, and the girder passes the combined load to its own supports.
