Roof trusses
Gable end truss
A gable end truss is the truss placed on top of a gable wall, with vertical studs instead of diagonal webs so cladding can be fixed to it.
Also known as gable end truss, gable truss, gable ladder, end truss
The last truss at a gable end sits directly on the wall, so it does not need to span. Vertical studs at regular centres replace the webs and give a fixing for sheathing and cladding.
A gable ladder, fixed to the gable end truss, forms the verge overhang of the roof at the gable.
