Roof trusses
Dual pitch truss
A dual pitch truss has top chords at different pitches on each side, giving an asymmetric roof with an off-centre ridge.
Also known as dual pitch truss, asymmetric truss, unequal pitch truss, offset ridge truss
Instead of two equal slopes meeting in the middle, one side is steeper than the other and the apex moves off centre. Architects use it for asymmetric facades, for a longer roof slope towards the sun for solar panels, or to meet a neighbouring roof.
The web pattern is adapted to the unequal halves, and the two heels usually differ in height.
