Floor truss
A floor truss is a parallel chord truss used as a floor joist, with an open web that services can pass through.
Also known as floor truss, floor trusses, open web joist, metal web joist, parallel chord floor truss
Floor trusses replace solid joists with a light, deep truss made from small timbers and nail plates, usually with the timbers laid flat. They span further than solid joists of the same weight and are stiff, which reduces floor bounce.
The open webs let ducts, pipes and cables run through the floor without drilling, and a service chase can be designed into the middle of the truss.
